The Companion signs you in, keeps Evolve content up to date, and launches your own Ashes of Creation client.
On Linux, make the download executable and start it: chmod +x EvolveCompanion-linux-amd64 && ./EvolveCompanion-linux-amd64. After the first start it appears in your application menu.
Run the installer and start the Evolve Companion from your Start menu or desktop. Choose Sign in to sign in with your Evolve identity in your browser, then open Settings to choose your Ashes of Creation game folder. On Windows, Browse... opens the standard folder picker. Press Play when you are ready; your password never passes through the Companion.
The installer and the Companion are digitally signed. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" for a brand-new release, choose More info, check the publisher shown, then Run anyway. Only run files downloaded from this page.
The Companion never downloads or replaces programs by itself. When a new version is published, the Companion says so and shows a Download button that brings you back here. Close the Companion, run the new installer, and start it again: your sign-in, game folder and settings are kept.
Coming from an older Companion (AoCEvolveCompanion.exe)? Install this version with the installer, then delete the old file. Your sign-in and settings carry over.
The Companion downloads a patch and uses your local game data to build an additional Evolve design-data file. That file sits alongside your existing client data. It checks for updates when you play and downloads them when the published version changes. The update process does not replace the original client files.
